Engineering 1C Homework Due 2/27/20


Assignment: Write a one-paragraph description of an item without naming the item. Use clear, precise, and concise language to convey the characteristics of the item in detail. Do not discuss the item’s function. Be sure to choose an item that all members of the class would be familiar with (for example, hand tools, cooking utensils, grooming implements, etc.).

 Response: This object is usually yellow, made of wood, and in the shape of a hexagonal cylinder with a diameter of 6mm and length of about 16 cm. Through the center of this hexagonal cylinder is a cylinder made of lead that usually pokes out at the bottom in the shape of a cone. At the top end there is a pinkish red cylinder made of rubber fused with a strip of metal to the yellow hexagonal cylinder

    This was about as precise as one could be with a description. I only have one problem with the description, which is that I think that the "lead" pencils use are actually a graphite mixture since lead seems far too dangerous for a everyday use item. Other than that I think your description is spot on.
